In ongoing nationwide raids on customers of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), MJ Motel and Sahara Hotel in the Nothern Capital Makeni have been invited by the authority over alleged illegal activities in relation to the usage of electricity.

The nationwide on –the- spot check by the authority started on Saturday 26th January this year in the South and Eastern regional Capitals of Bo and Kenema respectively where illegal activities were reportedly discovered.

Sierra Leone has been asked to send more Police personnel to South Sudan and Somalia for peacekeeping duties.

This was stated by Police Director of Crime Services, Commissioner Joseph Ibrahim Lahai during a press briefing at the Police Headquarters in Freetown last week.

He said despite drawdowns in peacekeeping missions in the two countries, Sierra Leonean Police (SLP) are needed, adding that personnel have been performing “very well at global level,” and exhibiting “exemplary performance’’.

Migrants who got stranded in Niger and other North African Countries, and then eventually brought back home, have staged a protest at the International Organization for Migration (IOM)’s office in Freetown over their reintegration package.

Dozens of the migrant returnees were seen protesting outside the gate of the IOM New Signal Hill Road chanting that the time for their reintegration package was long overdue.

They were not seen holding placards, but some were violently banging on the gate of the UN agency.
