One of the Leprosy and Tuberculosis focal people attached to the division in the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Fatu Kamara has disclosed that the Kenema District Health Management Team (DHMT) has recorded 5.14% cases of patients with tuberculosis in 2024.

She made this pronouncement during a community engagement on 5^th April with chiefs, civil society, town chiefs, women leaders, youths, and traditional authorities in Kenema on how to break the chain of TB transmission in the district.

 Sierra Leone’s president Julius Maada Bio has promised inclusivity, transparency, and accountability in the ongoing Constitutional Review Process.

Bio made this statement at the Special Presidential Development Partnership Committee (DEPAC) Meeting in Freetown on 11th April 2024.

“We must continue to be guided by the principles of inclusivity, transparency, and accountability. The voices of all Sierra Leoneans must be heard and considered throughout the process,” he emphasized.

The cell phone of the first accused, Amadu Koita Makalo in the ongoing treason trial for the November 26^th, 2023 failed coup, has been tendered at the court martial in connection to the related offence.

After the tendering of the Samsung galaxy-S23 ultra phone on Thursday 11^th April 2024, photos from the phone were displayed in court showing Koita and others, who are said to be on the run, seen performing a ritual with a herbalist.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Austin Demby has called on all hospital personnel to ensure zero preventable deaths in hospitals.

Demby made this call at the commissioning of Ward 7, Connaught Hospital, on 5^Th of April this year, following its renovation. He said the Government has been doing its best, and could do even more if other partners help.

The Joint Force Commander of the RSLAF, has told the ongoing court martial that about 18:00 hours on Saturday 25th November 2023, he was at his office at the Cockerill headquarters in Freetown doing his routine check on the alertness of his personnel when he received a phone call from a security agent saying that an unknown person has claimed that Freetown would come under attack that night.

Updating the public about the spate of drug abuse in Sierra Leone, the Minister of Health, Dr. Austin Demby has, in a Town hall conversation on how to fight against Kush, disclosed that between 2020 to 2023 they recorded an increase of over 3,866% of Kush users across the country. 

Demby made this statement on 2nd April this year at the Bintumani Conference Hall –venue for a Town hall meeting on how to combat kush and other harmful drugs.
