Opposition MP blasts ANARDACO

Representative for constituency 91 in Pujehun district, Sidi Tunis, MP has strongly criticised the American oil company, ANARDACO for “abandoning the community people during the exploration phase of their operations”.
According to the MP, the company which is prospecting for oil in the Sulima area of Pujehun district claimed that they were not required to undertake any corporate social responsibility program during the period of exploration.

Bo Chief Administrator Arrested

The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament yesterday ordered the detention of William Alpha, chief administrator of the Bo City Council at the Bo west Police Division, accusing him of “perjury”.

According to the committee chairman, Hassan Sheriff, MP, they handed the chief administrator over to the police because he failed to comply with their directives regarding the ministry of agriculture and for failing to produce some delivery notes on procurement during a parliamentary public hearing on the council.

Solar lights light up Koidu

Hundreds of residents of Koidu, the headquarters of the eastern district of Kono stormed the streets on Sunday night jubilating over the solar street lights after they were powered on for the first time.

It was the test phase at key locations including Post Office Road, Old Yengema Road, Bongalow, Number Nine and Yardu Road.

APC MP questions Operation WID

A Member of Parliament for the governing All People’s Congress party and member of the Local Government Committee in the House has questioned the effectiveness of Operation WID.

Speaking in parliament on Tuesday Alhassan Kamara, MP, said he did not understand what the whole operation was about because under it, traffic was still congested due to street trading, motor bikes and push carts (omolankay) in many streets.
